The International Youth Energy Forum — 2018: Results and Projects

The key topic of the 5th forum was the project development in the field of digitalization of electric power industry in participating countries. Competing projects had to meet some key requirements such as enhancement of the network controllability and system flexibility for customer needs along with improvement of acceptability, reliability and cost-effectiveness. All presented projects gave rise to the earnest discussions of the jury which members mentioned the timeliness of topics brought up in presentations.

It is the young specialists who shall lead our branch to the future, thus each possibility to receive a new experience is all the more important. I love the forum slogan — “Power Industry without Borders”. I want to thank Rosseti for realization of the international integration event able to give the impact for the further development of the branch.

Five teams of young professionals took part in the contest final with their designs:

• the Chinese team design for the energy grid of Belarus — Automation Level Improvement of Belarus Distribution Network;
• the German team design for the energy grid of Russia — Integrated Connectivity and Intelligence in the Russian Grid;
• the Russian team design for the energy grid of China — Poor Load Control Limits the Efficiency of Renewable Energy;
• the Italian team design for the energy grid of Germany — Digitalization of Electrical Infrastructure;
• the Belarusian team design for the energy grid of Germany — Integration of e-Mobility In German Grid.

The grand prix was awarded to the Belarusian project.

The international jury recognized the project of the team of Italy as the most topical and assigned the category “Decision best of all responding the country challenge”. Development of the team of Germany took a prize as the most innovative: the German specialists proposed creation of the digital platform integrating equipment manufacturers, network companies and IT-companies. And the grand prix of the forum was awarded to the project of the team of Belarus allowing to reduce peak loads in power grid due to effective integration of electric cars into it to the benefit of the ultimate customer. International Youth Energy Forum (organized by the Russian distribution grid operator Rosseti) is the main annual summit of best young specialists of national utility companies from Europe and Asia. The forum which takes place in format of working meetings, sessions, round tables, and presentations is the efficient instrument of the integration of the youth of different countries as well as the key discussion platform for the young power engineers and hiring managers of the industry.
